Updates Out the Wazoo

EDIT: Uploaded the revised flyer. Turns out it had the wrong date written on it.

Well, well, well, I've got quite the bundle of updates to fill you guys in on!

First off, after much resistance I've finally succumbed to the Twitter pandemic. Yup, I've decided to branch off to Twitter to further my conquest for world domination, er, I mean, to use as a means of more exposure and updates on my work in ultra-condensed form. For you Twitter inclined folks out there, head on over and follow me at the oh-so consistently titled DramaticMonarch.

Secondly, I have another convention on the horizon! Yes indeedy, I'll be at the next Vancouver Comicon on January 16. More details will be revealed once the date gets closer but you can still have a look at the very pretty and colorful flyer. It's a safe bet that I'll be in full-force worker bee mode over the next few weeks. ;-)

Finally, I'm doing some writing work on a collaborative article so be on the lookout for that very soon.

In case I don't post something before 2010 bites the dust, I just wanna wish you all a Happy New Year. Party safe.

Christmas Comic 2010: The Christmas Song Debacle

Man, I really oughtta start working on these Christmas comics much earlier. I swear, each year they keep getting bigger and more time consuming. Oh the pitfalls of being a detail hound.

Blame the scanner for cutting the edge off just slightly.

Anyways, the idea for this one came to me when I was listening to "The Christmas Song". Everyone always likes to make jokes about chestnuts roasting on an open fire but I decided to mutilate, er, jab at another set of lyrics tucked way back at the end of the song.

Just me or does this lady look like a crotchety middle aged version of Ivy?

In case the comic and my last journal entry don't state it enough, hope you all are having a fantastic holiday today. Spend some time with loved ones, have a good meal, some laughs and lots of memories to share. <3

The Gingerbread Lolita Improved (With WIP Scans)

I was going through my old Christmas Lolita card designs earlier this month and I couldn't help but notice how, well...amateurish they looked. I had a lot of weird things going on anatomy-wise, the coloring looked a little shoddy and some of the eyes looked lop-sideded. Sure, there's always room for improvement no matter where you are with your craft but looking at those cards elicited memories of older drawing and coloring techniques that I've long since drifted away from (my skin tone pencil crayons are probably happy and well rested because of this). They just no longer fit in with my current work.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to revamp the entire set so I just decided to focus on one design and update it just for my own personal sake.

For reference, here's how the Gingerbread Lolita looked three years ago...

Hope this is considered an upgrade of sorts!

Sailor Moon: The Abridged Toon

Yikes! It's been a while since I've added anything here since Sketchavember wrapped up. Face it, drawing non-stop for a month straight can totally wipe a person out. :-P

It has also come to my attention that I've never uploaded this delightfully deranged drawing on here yet and so I bring you "Sailor Moon: The Abridged Toon".

I remember drawing this when I was in a pretty mopey place and I left that place as soon as I completed this piece. How can "SMA" not cheer up a soul? If you have no clue what I'm talking about or are desperate for some kind of context for the insanity plaguing the scouts (er, senshei for you devout otakus out there ;-)), go check out Megami33's "Sailor Moon: The Abridged Series". It will ruin your childhood in the best way possible.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 30: Triumph: Sketchavember Style

So this is what it's all been leading up to. Day 30 of Sketchavember has wrapped up with...

...a goofy comic strip.

It's a pretty fair approximation of my creative process today...I mean, without the whole falling asleep at the drawing table bit. I would have liked to have done a nice, big colorful work to finish off the month but I couldn't settle on just one idea and time was already nagging away at me. Besides, it's been a while since I've done any artwork of the sequential nature.

Overall, I'd say the Sketchavember challenge was absolutely worth it and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to get back into a regular drawing groove, to challenge themselves or those who just love to draw plain and simple.

A big thanks goes out to Croaky for concieving this challenge and to all of you for sticking with me throughout all this glorious madness.

Don't think the art will stop here. Oh hell no. I've got ideas up the wazoo for future pieces and projects. Just you wait. ;-)

PS, that is so totally my drawing face. :-P

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 29: Scurvy Bunny (plus Stitchy Bunny and Bunnies Spew Rainbows/Spewey Bunny)

Day 29 of Sketchavember has proven to be a day of sorts for resurrection. I'm returning to a series of images that kinda fell on the wayside this time last year: a bunch of "cute-but-not-necessarily-cuddly" bunnies!

"Scurvy Bunny" is the most recent addition to the bunch. Doesn't disease, mangy matted fur and rotting teeth fill you up with warm and ooey-gooey fuzzies? ARRR!

"Stitchy Bunny" was where I last left off...or at least the last one I was most happy with. There was one I completed last year but never posted since I was never completely satisfied with it. Expect that "missing bunny" to get a complete overhaul. Back to this bloody little bunny; what was intended to be a cyber-esque bunny ended up going in a guro-nurse/B-grade horror movie direction. For the record, the bunny is NOT beheaded.

Finally, here's the one that started it all in the first place: "Spewey Bunny" (or "Bunnies Spew Rainbows"). Many days and nights watching "Superjail!" are to blame for this cheerful abomination. ;-P

Expect at least three more bunnies to be added to the roster soon.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 28: Zacho Fedro, Go

Oy, technology decided to be a finicky little bitch on Day 28 of Sketchavember. That still didn't stop me from completing this sketch of excelladon's (of DeviantART) original character Zacho Fedro.

I gotta say, Zacho's pretty different from what I usually do but I had quite a bit of fun playing around with big, thick, sharp lines like his hair and the lightning powers. I apologize for any inconsistencies with the character but I hope he likes it!

THUNDER!! Na na na na na naaa-aaahhh THUNDER!!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 27: ...eserever ni olah...

Some days you just need to dive into a well of your own favorite cliches. Day 27 of Sketchavember just happened to be one of those days.

"You wear guilt
Like shackles on your feet
Like a halo in reverse..."

These particular lyrics from Depeche Mode's song "Halo" popped into my head earlier this evening and thus this drawing was born.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 26: Have a Deathrock Day! (Plus CYB3R-SMIL3)

Just a quick little doodle for Day 26 of Sketchavember. Why am I losing track of time all of a sudden?

Anyway, if you folks don't know I drew a little cyber smiley (or "CYB3R-SMIL3" two years ago...

I decided to give it a cousin of the deathrock persuasion. Just because. ^_^

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 25: That Wasn't Part of the Act...

Day 25 of Sketchavember sends me back...way back into one of my old high school sketchbooks! I remember drawing this creepy little clown girl back in Grade 12 so I decided to revisit and update her a bit. Clowns, no matter the gender or style, always give you ample opportunities to amp up the morbid factor.

It's a good thing my fear of clowns was eradicated over the years thanks to frequent Krusty the Clown sightings on "The Simpsons".

Onwards and upwards to the final stretch of Sketchavember!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 24: Copypasta Love

Day 24 of Sketchavember filled me with the urge to draw something simply silly. Nothing complex or extravagant. Just giggle-worthy goofiness.

For all you 'net savvy folks out there; I can't be the only person who gets sudden pangs of hunger each time they see someone use the term "copypasta", right? :-P

I bet you're getting hungry just looking at this drawing now, aren't you?

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 23: Sweeney Bob

WHEW! Didn't think I'd complete this one in time but here's Day 23's picture for Sketchavember!

Sideshow Bob has always been one of my favorite characters in general and I've always wanted to draw him in something. Sweeney Todd just seemed like a marvellous fit. Sure helps when you have the movie poster right beside your drawing table. ;-P

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 22: Minnie With a Rockabilly Twist!

22 days into Sketchavember and it's evident that I still haven't gotten Disneyland (nor mice in general) out of my system. :-P

I was reminded of my Minnie Mouse inspired lolita design from a few years back and I thought it would be interesting to meld her signature look with more of a rockabilly/pin-up girl type flavor. Did I pull it off?

Oh hey, a hidden Mickey!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 21: Dead as a Mau5

Day 21 of Sketchavember has struck me with the urge to draw Canadian electronica musician/producer Deadmau5.

Yup. Nothing much else to say except that he's the coolest mouse, er, mau5 with a giant red head around. ^_^

Friday, November 19, 2010

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 19: Wanda's Big-Ass...Glasses!

Barely defeating the clock once again, Day 19 of Sketchavember has me drawing some very large, very colorful glasses.

I gotta admit, I love this little spur-of-the-moment character design. I think I gotta use Wanda in another drawing some time. ^_^

Modern Day Judy Jetson

EDIT: Re-uploaded with a much, much better scan.

Here's an older pre-Sketchavember madness drawing I had lying around my drawing table. It's my take on how I think "teen of the future" Judy Jetson would look like in this day and age.

She strikes me as a total teeny-bopper, go-with-the-flow, trendy type with the typical teen fascinations like shopping, iPods, Lady Gaga and the solar system. ;-P

I might do a few more "twists" on classic cartoon characters some time down the road. We shall see. ;-)

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 18: Child's Play: "Mother?"

For Day 18 of Sketchavember, I got my tush in gear and finally completed this sketch for shoppergurl at DeviantART who wanted me to illustrate a scene from a fan fiction for "Child's Play" called "Mother?"

To be honest, I don't know a helluva lot about "Child's Play" or its canon (other than the fact that there's a killer doll named Chucky and that there were was a "Bride of Chucky" and "Seed of Chucky" movie done a few years back) so I had to go by a lot of the descriptions I was given plus a few Google image searches so I apologize if there are any mistakes or inconsistencies.

I had no idea how my Chucky (or Glen for that matter) was going to turn out but I gotta say, I'm pretty pleased with how Chucky's nasty eye turned out.

Hope she likes it!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 17: Fancy Funeral Fudge Cake

Not gonna lie, I was feeling a little stumped as to what to draw today but inspiration for Day 17's drawing for Sketchavember came in the form of The Most Dangerous Cake recipe and repeated listenings of bands like Dead Can Dance, Black Tape for a Blue Girl with a little helping of Voltaire.

Thus, the fancy shmancy funeral themed cake was born. I've always admired the work and craftsmanship that goes into all those crazy elaborate cakes and I've always wanted to take a crack at designing something in that manner.

Not sure I exactly have the baking skills to live up to it but I'm working on it. ;-)

Hungry yet? :-9

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 16: So Very Much Spirited Away

EDIT: Re-uploaded with a much better scan.

Oh hey guys! Guess what movie I just saw today? XD

Yup, I decided to channel all that "Spirited Away" awesomeness into Day 16's drawing for Sketchavember.

There's so much to love about that movie (including its protagonist Chihiro) and I just couldn't resist drawing those cute little soot creatures. I also decided to try something a little new with the eyes. I held back on the "eye comets" this time so let me know what you think.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 15: Ain't Feelin' So Hot

Ugh...I feel like mucus and all kinds of other lovely things but I still decided to pump something out for Day 15 of Sketchavember because I'm a big tough girl like that. :-P

I hope I have it in me to draw some more ornate and extravagant stuff soon and I most certainly hope I'm not coming down with a cold.

But hey, at least it's something.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 14: Maude's Mods

I may have been out all day but I still managed to squeeze in a little something for Day 14 of Sketchavember!

Once again, my love and admiration for magnificent dreadlocks comes through in this drawing. The overwhelming need to draw some super stretched out earlobes was also apparent. Resistance against a punny title was more than futile.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 13: Trixie Workin'

'Twas the 13th day of Sketchavember that I finally completed a sketch for CureMyBlackendHeart (of DeviantART) of her original character Trixie.

Okay, okay, I'll stop with the faux-Christmas narration (oh crap, am I finally getting desensitized by the ever-so-early bombardment of Christmas?!). The point is that I had a ton of fun drawing this mechanic from the future, complete with random splotches of motor oil.

Hope I did Trixie justice!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 12: Bloody Butterface

EDIT: Re-uploaded with a better scan.

Bizarro ideas ensue on Day 12 of Sketchavember.

Sometimes weird, weird ideas like a bloodhound with the body of a bikini model hit you at strange times of the day. Or, um, night in this case.

Interpretation of this one is totally up to you. ;-P

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 11: Remembrance...

It's only natural that Remembrance Day would play a role in Day 11's drawing for Sketchavember.

Lest we forget.

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 10: Little Tramp

For Day 10 of Sketchavember, I strolled down a different path from what I usually do.

I wanted to try not only drawing a guy but a rather powerful, sensual kind of guy as well. I've been known to dip my toes into the "sexy girl" sketches so I only figured it would make sense to see if I can translate that into my guys.

Hopefully I managed to straddle a line between smokin' sexy and tasteful.

I can see this guy as part of a boylesque troupe (yes, they really do exist! Google it!) under the stage name of "Little Tramp".

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 9: Versus The World!

The wee hours of Sketchavember: Day 9 has led me to toy around a little with Bryan Lee O' Malley's art style.

Yup, I actually do own everything I am wearing in this drawing and since I used the word "I", this is indeed a cartoony self portrait.

JENNA SOKALSKI HAS DEFEATED THE CLOCK![/voice over]

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 8: Do It Yourself, Dammit!

Woo! Another week of Sketchavember approaches!

This here is Day 8's drawing. It appears that I'm not quite done turning the idea of a traditional happy little housewife on its head just yet. For those not in the know, my Halloween costume also ran on this theme: a homicidal 1950's housewife (complete with the bloodstained apron, gloves and cut up face).

Lots of Bikini Kill and Gossip (with just a pinch of classic oldies for that retro touch) helped fuel this piece along.

RAWR!

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 7: Serena's Bangs Experiment

It appears Day 7 of Sketchavember has led me to experiment with one of my original characters appearance wise.

I woke up this morning and wondered what Serena (from my "That Rave Last Night" comic story) would look like with bangs.

For reference, here she is sans bangs.

So whaddya think? Yay? Nay? Has potential? Don't even bother?

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 6: Still a No Good Street Kid

Sketchavember is still underway as I make it to Day 6.

Now here's an old character of mine I never thought I'd revisit: it's Kidd!

She, along with a few other characters, were going to be a part of a much larger scale story but I fell victim to the "Backstory Curse": fixating too much on the characters backstories to really come up with a concrete plot. If you're planning on developing an original story, please don't succumb to the "Backstory Curse".

Anyway, she will be returning in some published format. Stay tuned for future details.

You're intrigued, no? ;-P

For shits and giggles, here's one of the earliest drawings I have of Kidd drawn way back in 2007.

I hope to god I have improved since then.

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 5: Starship Pooper From Hell

Here is Day 5's drawing for Sketchavember.

I had a feeling binging on all those "Simpsons" DVDs (the Season Four boxset to be precise ) would catch up with me sooner or later. It's been quite some time since I last drew something "Simpsons" related anyway.

I think the ultimate push for me to draw alien Maggie came in the form of CR's "Top 13 Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Stories" video over at TGWTG.com.

I swear it wasn't intended to go in such a morbid direction but I just had to place a butcher's knife in her tentacle. It wouldn't totally surprise me if she had a knife in her possession, she is Maggie "Shot Mr. Burns" Simpson after all. ;-)

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 4: Robot Unicorn Costume Attack!

"Open your eyes for me..."

Day 4 of Sketchavember brings a continuation of what I was working on yesterday: a completely over-the-top costume design inspired by the crazy addictive online game "Robot Unicorn Attack" over on Adult Swim's website.

Are your eyes burning from the rainbowrifficness of it all? :-P

The mane is attached to a hairband with the ears and horn and the tail is a belt. I can imagine the hooves being achieved with clear color paper. The same kind of material they used to make those old school 3D glasses.

Why is it that I always come up with more costume ideas right after Halloween? Must be a sign that I need to hit up more conventions. ;-)

SKETCHAVEMBER Day 3: Sultry

EDIT: Got rid of that annoying smudge.

Day 3 of Sketchavember brings me my second contribution.

It was originally going to be a costume design but it started getting much, much too big so I decided to shift my focus on something small and simple that would also give me a little practice in a few departments...

-Inks
-My Pentell brushpen (but I had to use a few other multiliner pens for certain areas but the brushpen was used for a good bulk of the image.
-Different perspectives of the head.

Kinda had sultry sex symbols like Bridget Bardot on the brain here. Just wanted to draw a good haughty little pout. ;-)

Was I on the mark or hopelessly off? Let me know. ;-)

Inked Sketch: Vorhias, Beeyotches...

Okay, so here's the other freebie sketch I was talking about. This time, it was for MrVorhias over at DeviantART who wanted me to draw his cyberpunked out avatar.

If you all know me by now, there was no way I would have turned down an oppurtunity to engage in some cyberpunkery in sketch form. ;-) Mmm, goggles.

This was done before Sketchavember, for the record.

SKETCHAVEMBER! Day 1/2: Porcie; Such a Doll

EDIT: I cleaned up the image a little more on Photoshop.

Holy crap! An honest-to-god update on this blog! Yup, I've gotten my drawing groove back and what better time to get it back than for SKETCHAVEMBER!

"What is Sketchavember?", you might be asking. Well, you know how thousands of people take on NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and attempt to write a full length novel throughout the month of November? Well, this is the drawing equivalent of it. The goal is to produce one piece of art per day be it a simple doodle on a napkin, a comic strip or even a full-on mural painting. It's totally up to you. For more information, you can read the official and original journal entry here or on the originator's DeviantART page here.

Now, as for the drawing itself "Porcie: Such a Doll" is an original character belonging to diesseapril over on DeviantART. This was done as a freebie sketch along with a few others which I shall post soon.

But back to the drawing. The dress was so fun to design. It became this Rococo meets glam vampire thing and with such beauty and glamour, I just had to add in a big ol' scythe to spruce things up. Ahhh, manic violence and dainty elegance. My favorite combination!

This also doubles as my first and second drawing for Sketchavember: I worked on this yesterday and discovered the challenge later that night and completed it today. Make sense?

Stay tuned for more Sketchavember goodness!

Dreamfalls

I've been in a bit of a creative slump for the last two or three weeks. I might have remedied my exhaustion with movies and video games but sometimes the best cure for an art block is to draw something totally self indulgent.

Thus, I bring you "Dreamfalls".

Shouldn't you folks have figured it out by now how much I adore dreadfalls? I'm seriously considering learning how to make them myself. Really. They'd be so fantastic, ^_^

Eva, Eyes of Emerald

Emerging from The Backlog, we have "Eva, Eyes of Emerald." I've grown to really like this drawing over the last two years since I've drawn it. I often like to think of her as a good friend to Drea. I might draw a picture of them catching up over a cup of coffee some time...we'll see.

Geuse and Deetz

While posting my "Scott Pilgrim" drawings, I realized that I never got a chance to post this particular drawing I did for my friend Maro. He wanted to see me take on Beetlejuice and Lydia and I gave him "Geuse and Deetz".

This was another attempt at trying to merge characteristics and facial features from the movie and the cartoon into my own style. Gotta say, I'm still pretty happy with it especially when it comes to The Ghost Host With the Most.

Sketchalicious: Scott Pilgrim Edition

Now here's something new I wanna try: Sketchalicious! It's where I take on a theme (or fandom, depending on how fannish I'm feeling) and do a bunch of sketches based around it.

After working away like a crazed slave for the last few months, I decided it was high time to draw something purely fun. What could be more fun than "Scott Pilgrim"? Fresh from a second reading of the entire comic series (seeing the movie fairly recently doesn't hurt one bit), I knew I wanted to tackle the characters in some shape or form.

Like my "Juno" inspired drawing, I tried to merge some of the facial features of the film actors with some elements of O'Malley's original characters and apply them all to my style. I must admit, most of these interpretations ended up being a little closer to the comics (mostly due to having the comics at my immediate reach) but the main goal was to capture the sheer essence of all the characters. Hopefully I succeeded in that respect.

I also included a few characters that didn't make it into the movie. They need more love. In case you're wondering where the League of Evil Exes are, I'm planning to give them their own Sketchalicious page.

Time for some quick 'n' dirty notes!

First Row, Left to Right
-Scott Pilgrim: I think I managed to capture a certain gawky, doofy nature in here. A bit closer to the books than Micheal Cera appearance-wise.
-Ramona Flowers: God, I hate it when my Copic markers explode on the paper. Old-ish Tria markers to the rescue! With that out of the way, it was a little tricky to decide which hairstyle to give Ramona. Longer turqoise (from the latter half of the series) won out.
-Wallace Wells: He's totally not wearing pants here. Sure, you can't see it but you can sense it.

Second Row, Left to Right
-Knives Chau: Aww, she turned out so adorable and perky! Gotta love the red highlights.
-Kim Pine: Probably one of my favorites here. Her hair ended up being more closer to orange than the red in the books but I think the expression is pretty accurate.
-Stephen Stills: If you couldn't tell already, I had to do a lot of "guess-work" with things like eye color. I think I managed to get Stephen's perenially tired, exhausted-from-playing-guitar-and-drowning-out-Julie's-bitchery look.

Third Row, Left to Right
-"Young" Niel Nordegraf: He looks so young. Probably the quickest and easiest one to draw out of everyone.
-Envy Adams: I prefered Envy as a redhead than as a blonde (I did take her movie earrings though). I'm really happy with how she turned out here, especially when it comes to her face.
-Julie Powers: Another one of my favorites to draw. The original sketch made her look a teeny bit too close to Envy for my liking (minus the "exotic billion dollar rock star look") so I changed her mouth a bit. Looks fine to me now.

Fourth Row, Left to Right
-Stacey Pilgrim: Scott's little sister! Well, at least I hope they look like they could be related.
-Lisa Miller: A character who didn't make it into the movie that I thought I'd give some time in the spotlight to. I kinda wish I had a much more "pale blonde" color to work with.
-Joseph: Like Lisa, he didn't appear in the movie but he amused me enough in the comics to get a spot here. This is where I had to do the most "guess-work" in terms of color. His beard just screamed Canadian lumberjack to me.

Yup, More Sketch Cards!

That's right folks! I've got even more sketch cards to share with you all. I know you're cheering in the back there. :-P

Without further ado, these are some ink sketch cards I completed at the Vancouver Comic Con a week ago.

I took a bit of a different approach with these cards. I did a lot of the pencil work on them a few days before the convention then I did all the inking work on site. It allows me to get these cards completed a lot quicker.

The card on the left came about when I was struck with the urge to listen to a lot of The Birthday Massacre as well as Depeche Mode's "Black Celebration" album. She's so sullen and spooky, no?

The right card came from a failed attempt at drawing an 80's new wave chick with a Flock of Seagulls hairstyle. I decided to take her in a more punk direction while still maintaining that hairstyle feel.

Finally, this is "Fascinate Me". I figured after drawing and designing so many fascinators, I figured it was high time that I designed a mighty pimpin' one for myself.

I also felt an urge to create something colorful after doing so much black and white work.

Vancouver Comic Con: The Aftermath

Whew! I've managed to get through a second comic convention in two weeks all in one piece!

Once again, I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who either took the time to check out my table, browse through my portfolio, pick up a business card/flyer (or both ), buy something from me and came on down to the convention in the first place. It's always greatly appreciated and like the last time, I'm truly grateful for the awesome experience...even if the wind from outside the building kind of made my tags and books tumble over every now and then.

I'll probably lie low for a little after this one and take some time to work on more of my webcomic "I Be Bitchin'" plus a few new projects I might have in mind. ;-)

Once again, as if I can't say it enough THANK YOU EVERYBODY.

Now, I feel the urge to just draw a lot of fun, fan artsy stuff.

PS, on a random note I totally stayed up 'til 1 AM watching a bunch of Disney movies last night. Mmm, chillaxation.

Vancouver Comic Con Tomorrow!

Gadzooks! I'm at it again with the conventions. This time, it's Vancouver Comic Con!

The show's on this Sunday, September 12 (also known as tomorrow, le gasp!) at the Heritage Hall in Vancouver, British Columbia from 11 AM until 5 PM. Admission is $4 per person but if you're under 14, you get in free. Just putting that little piece of info out there just in case anyone has any young 'uns in tow.

Like Comix and Stories, I'll be at my table all day selling plenty of prints, copies of my book "The (E)Motions of Heartbreak", and original sketch cards. Plus, I'll have my portfolio for you all to flip through and to witness my work in the flesh. I'll also be sketching and inking some brand spanking new sketch cards on site. What will these cards be of? Well, you'll just have to come on down and find out. ;-)

Be sure to swing over and give me a shout and/or "hi".

For more information on the convention and all the creators and special guests attending (including Greg Rucka of "Detective Comics", "Queen and Country", "Action Comics", "Stumptown" etc.), go check out the convention website or, well, the snazzy flyer just above this text.

Can't wait to do this all over again and I hope to see you all there.

Sketcha! Sketcha! Sketcha!

Oh look guys! I've got a bunch of sketches I'd like to share with you all! I promise my works will return to glorious color soon, 'kay? ;-)

I thought I'd practice a little more on drawing guys since my artwork's so obviously swayed towards the fairest sex.

I would also really appreciate some good critique because I want to be able to draw a variety of different male types down the line.

The top left guy is probably my favorite of the bunch. He seems like such a cuddly teddy bear...well, one with tattoos anyway. Just like a Care Bear! :-P

Top right guy became sort of a suave metrosexual dude with the snazzy suit and distinct lack of stubble.

Bottom left reminds me of all the dudes I wanted to punch in the face. Arrogant, cocky, swamped in dreadful cologne, popped Lacoste (or any other beyond overpriced clothing brand that magically grants you a high social status) polo collar, spends more time in front of the mirror than their girlfriends...you know the type.

Aww, bottom right needs a hug and a cheeseburger. I'm sure he'll find another nice girl who can geek out over Legend of Zelda with him in senior high school...or college.
